Viewpoint As tolerances on traditional mechanisms become tighter, they begin to fall in the realm of what opticians have successfully dealt with for hundreds of years. We will review the tools and processes of optical fabrication and testing that permit persons with little formal training produce and align highly precise objects cost effectively with relatively crude machines. The alignment aspect of the course will have a hands-on demonstration of some alignment techniques.
