MECHANICAL ENGINEER II
Position Summary

Inc.
Tessera's wafer-level optics team (Tessera North America, Inc.) is based
in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina, and develops wafer-based micro-optics
and micro-optical systems. The group's leading-edge product offerings
include a range of lenses that are used in a variety of highly-specialized
applications including photonics, photolithography, telecommunications,
aerospace/ defense, vision and data storage.
We are looking for an individual to support optical,
mechanical and packaging design engineers for all new products developed
at the Charlotte facility. The person will work primarily in a “hands
on mode” executing assigned tasks from the design/engineering
staff. In addition, this individual will provide technical and manufacturing
engineering support for the transfer of Tessera technology to external
customers and licensees
Responsibilities

Collect and analyze data and
performing basic engineering tasks as required.

Process development in precision
machining for fabricating optical surfaces, and fabrication of said
surfaces.

Data acquisition and statistical
analysis for process feed back, as well as for process development.

Heavy emphasis on metrology capability
such as measurement systems (contact profilometers, white light interferometers,
and measuring machines).

Provide engineering support to
designers, test engineers and process engineers within the product-development
group and others.

Some travel, largely domestic.

Bachelors of Science Degree (e.g.
engineering, physics); Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of industry
experience including:
-operating precision metrology for characterizing machined surfaces
and performing statistical analysis
-product design/development and/or optical-surface creation preferable
-Hands-on experience working in a laboratory/development environment.

Must have strong analytical skills;
meticulous in data collection and note taking.

Strong mechanical aptitude and
basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

Very good communication skills
(verbal and written) - clarity, conciseness and accuracy
Working Conditions
Candidate will perform duties in clean room environment, which requires
special protective-outer garments; the area will be temperature controlled
(average 70-degreees F).
