R&D Precision Machining Engineer

The precision machining engineer will be a member of the process integration department. The candidate will be responsible for the development of precision planarization processes and their transfer into manufacturing.

Required:

  • A minimum of a B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering, precision engineering or equivalent.
  • Hands on experience with single point diamond machining, flycut, grinding, lapping, polishing and/or dicing.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with microfabrication, MEMS, or semiconductor processing.
  • Experience with CMP and ceramic lapping.
  • Know how in metrology and CMM tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and development for diamond flycut process.
  • MEMS substrate planarization including grinding, lapping and polishing.
  • Substrate precision dicing, laser cutting and machining.
  • Support the development, evaluation and transfer into manufacturing of new processes.
  • Support evaluation and acceptance of new equipment, tooling or metrology.
  • Work to improve manufacturing area control systems to ensure consistent manufacturing processes.
