Description
Researches, designs, and develops computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs, codes, and unit tests object oriented software solutions for Windows operating systems.
  • Participates in the testing process by developing tests, performing tests, and documenting test results.
  • Supports software ¡§continuous improvement¡¨ efforts to enhance functionality, improve reliability, and increase usability of the company¡†s software products.
  • Writes end-user documentation describing software features.
  • Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
  • Works as part of a development team; provides regular and ongoing input to work estimates and schedules.

Position Requirements
Software Engineering Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following:
  • Knowledge of object oriented analysis and design (OOAD)
  • Knowledge of object oriented programming
  • Knowledge of common software engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Other Desired Engineering Skills and Abilities

The following skills, although not required, will be considered a plus when evaluating a candidate:

  • Win32 API / ATL / WTL experience
  • C++ experience
  • C#/.NET experience
  • OO Design Pattern experience
  • Multi-threaded software concepts and implementation
  • GUI design and implementation experience
  • COM, DLL, and other software component development (or use)
  • XML experience
  • Optics knowledge
  • CNC or other machine controls experience
  • UML knowledge
  • Automated software test experienceEXPERIENCE - Requires a minimum of 0-3 years of related experience.

Travel, domestically and internationally (5% - 10%), is currently required in order to perform the essential functions of this position.

Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in another engineering discipline if applicant has sufficient software development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.License Requirements
