Description

  • This position reports to Scott Summerson.
  • The Customer Service Engineer will install and service CNC equipment, metrology instruments and associated upgrades for all worldwide customers.
  • Provide first point of contact (via phone and e-mail) remote technical support for all customers.
    Failure mode analysis and electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Prepare documentation for activities in the US and overseas.
  • Confers with workers in other departments, such as marketing, R&D, and engineering, to provide/obtain technical information.
  • Develops and conducts training programs on the safe operations of the equipment, and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
  • Writes internal and external reports documenting results of customer visits.
  • Coordinates shipping and receiving of spare parts, consumable parts, upgrades and RMA parts.

Position Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting precision multi-axis motion control machines (both remotely and on-site).
    Ability to read electrical, mechanical and pneumatic drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills (English). Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to represent QED in a friendly, professional manner. Talent to convey information in a mutually beneficial and supportive manner that will bring about the success of all involved.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.
  • Ability to independently learn and understand new aspects of system's technology to solve problems when support from other engineers may not be available.
  • Schedule flexibility. Ability to travel within a 24 - 48 hr. period.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Machine control software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.
  • Travel - 40% or more, domestically and internationally, is currently required to perform the essential function of this position.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.License Requirements
