Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer

Leading manufacturer of electromechanical RF and microwave switch products and sub-systems for commercial, military, and space applications. Located in a beautiful California coastal community.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the design, development, and packaging of complex, highly reliable electromechanical RF and microwave switch and waveguide products and and/or sub-systems for commercial, military, and space applications.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Electromagnetic design and analysis
  • Detailed component design of complex servo/solenoid type actuators and systems from concept through delivery
  • Performance of electro-mechanical engineering and analysis tasks related to component design, including stress, thermal, magnetic, materials, sizing, life-cycle and reliability, FEA, tolerance, and processes
  • Performance of project lead activities including milestone schedule development, resource identification and planning, design team direction, design review, and customer interface
  • Ensuring product quality and on-time delivery through provision of engineering to support manufacturing and test groups
  • Working closely with and assist marketing and sales to ensure the development of achievable and defined design specification
  • Interface with customers regarding design requirements and design results

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Related BS and/or MS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or material science combined with significant (5+ years) experience and success in the design, analysis, and modeling of complex precision electromagnetic and electromechanical mechanisms involving moving parts (such as linear or rotary motors, brushless motors, or actuators)
  • Knowledge of processes, materials, manufacturing techniques, and testing related to such products
  • Experience with and knowledge of related engineering and modeling tools such as Solidworks, Cosmos, Pro/E, 2D and 3D CAD
  • Finite Element Analysis and Modeling relating to magnetics, thermal, and mechanical behavior
