Abstract:
There are many approaches to the implementation of manufacturing processes for the production of high precision components and optics. Some approaches are more successful than others, while some unfortunately fail to produce the desired results. Failure to execute an effective process development strategy can result in failure to produce the required components and can have severe economic consequences. Most often, and in the experience of examples provided, lack of the proper approach to process development is a major cause of fabrication failure, fabrication difficulty or inability to evolve a fabrication process to success. In many cases, the failure to implement successful part production is not technical limitation.
